BENNETTS BLUNDERS The Socred Angels The stock jobbing promotions in IJC of the McMahon brothers namely Westcoast Trans Transmission mission and Inland Natural Gas left this prov province ince saddled with a gas monopoly and the highest natural gas rates in North America Canadian distributors arc paying one third more for Canadian gas than American distributors In other words Canadians are paying through the nose for their own natural gas in order to facilitate big stock jobbing profits for the McMahons They make no profit in the 80 per cent of natural gas they sell in the United States It all comes out of the Canadian end and of course the gulls who bought their stock They tried to deny this when they appeared before the Horden Hoyal Commission on energy The commission proved that at 22 cents per thousand cubic feet they make no US profit and that any profit comes out of Canadian sales The commission report also leaves the clear implication that stock jobbery not public service as claimed was the motivation for creating the pipeline Company This is all on the official record The expediter of this stock promotion who made millions for the McMahons was none other than their dear friend W A C Bennett In fact McMahon is now the principal angel of the Hennctt government providing it with cam campaign paign funds and a whole battery of public relations experts to help in election campaigns It was McMahon who engineered with The Province newspaper the disgraceful roorback in the lJGO provincial election At the last minute when no reply was possible before election day McMahon impudently threatened to curtail his operations if Bennett was not elected BC would have been better off if he had Two weeks ago this newspaper warned that Bennett and McMahon were planning another last minute roorback in this election It is now common knowledge that this sleazy manoeuvre will be carried out in the Friday issues of the two Vancouver daily newspapers McMahon will be backed by a group of millionaire business businessmen men who constitute a sort of dinosaurs club in BC politics They have nothing but cynical contempt for the theories of Social Credit But they figure they can still use Bennett They arc going to say they will all curtail operations in B C if Bennett is not re elected Well soon know who these men are Chant denies interests in any poiitica
