here Saturday Basis of the trappers com complaint � plaint is that free use of the river is necessary to serve trap lines in the area The bridge is located about 30 miles north of Prince George and was built to serve the log logging � ging company There are other bridges over the Crooked but chief objection is to Just one of them The trappers charge it Is too low to permit passage of boats along the river They point out freightboats are too cumber cumbersome � some to portage around the structure The objection Is longstanding Initial opposition was regis registered � tered to an earlier bridge Then when it was rebuilt the trappers hoped the abutments would be elevated so the roadway would be far enough above the water to allow boats to go through However the new bridge proved to be lower than the first Charges were levelled at the trappers meeting that com complaints � plaints had received only the brush of from the forestry department However depart department � ment spokesmen here say the matter is not within their Juris Jurisdiction � diction They add that if the road had been planned by forestry the situation would never have developed They would have set specifications
