plebiscite scite were flatly denied today by the secretary treasurer of School District 57 Nancy MIddleton of McLeods Lake charged that resident electors and tenant electors in McLeods Lake wereturnedaway from the polls when they wanted to cast their ballots and only owner electors were permitted to vote MA Carpenter the school districts secretary - treasurer said Jo as a are of the fact that many had been turned away but added that it was their own fault by not being on the voters list Mr Carpenter pointed out that August 31 is the deadline for voters registration and anyone missing this date would not be able to cast a vote in the follow following ing year He said some people do not qualify to be on the voters list for various reasons such as length of residence require requirements ments and therefore could not be put on the list But we certainly welcome anyone who wants to register Mr Carpenter said The school district will con conduct duct an advertising campaign this summer to get people to regis register ter as voters But this must be done before the end of August If people want to qualify for a vote next ear Mr Carpenter said He added that there was no discrimination and it was the peoples responsibility to see that they were on the list to cast their ballots Mrs MIddleton said it was re gretable that many people were turned away because they took the time to vote With the general indifference on the part of many voters It is unfortunate that people who are entitled to vote and who take their time to go to a polling station are denied the right to exercise their franchise Mrs MIddleton said Sprinkling Causes Record Pumping The city Sunday set a record for pumping witer to homes in Prince George but city engineer Ernie Obbt isnt anxious
