seats are up for grabs Dec 6 including the mayors but the incumbents claim to have given the elections little thought Mayor Garvin Dezell Is the longest serving member with 15 years to his credit 14 � feated Ill wait and see who runs A Prince George hotel owner agreed today there is a problem of excessive drunkenness in the citys downtown core and that the problem needs greater control There is no easy solution to- the problem however said Bill Mlntenko owner of the Canada Hotel Mlntenko whose hotel is lo located � cated a block off the citys main downtown street Third Ave was commenting on criticisms levelled at hotel beer parlors by clothier Barry Phillips in Thursdays Citizen Our main shopping street is no place for skidroad hotels Phillips was quoted as saying after he had watched a manbeing ejected from a downtown beer parlor Ill tell you I cant see why the situation isnt looked after better than it is said Mintenko Theres got to be a little more grip on the situation he said when Chadney pulled him over Breathalyser record set by driver Prince George may have a new breathaliser reading record A breathaliser reading of 34 was introduced in court Tues Tuesday � day when Albert Motluk was charged with Impaired driving The charge followedatwo car accident at 15th and Victoria A 08 or 1 reading on the breathalyser is normally con considered � sidered evidence of believed to be in Canada on visitors per permits � mits are reported to have quit their Jobs with Pacific Great Eastern Railway following this weeks arrest of 17 Europeans on charges of working in Canada without a permit Art Deppford regional PGE manager was asked toconfirm or deny these reports but was tied up all morning in a meet meeting � ing with other PGE officials and United Transportation Union re presentatives Official sources have reported that the men most of them sec section � tion mnn at scattered localities throughout Northern BC re received � ceived word through the elec electronic � tronic grapevine that they too might be subject to arrest if they didnt vanish quickly It was learned this morning that the majority of the men ar arrested � rested this week 14 from Poi tugal and three from Greece were employees of the Pacific Great Eastern Railway The men were rounded up ear lier this week by special Cana dian Immgration and RCMP in investigation � vestigation squads who learned they had been working in Canada some of them since 19C5 on visitors permits A visitor to Canada cannot work with a visitors permit It is also believed that two of the 17
