record occupancy of 208 patients this morning Jammed Prince George Regional Hos Hospital � pital The hospital was built as a 242 bed institution Six patients had tobe placed in temporary corridor beds while two more rested In stretchers at the overcrowded hospital said administrator Colin Elliott Relief nursing staff have been brought in to help handle the overflow he said Elliott declined to com comment � ment saying only Ive been quoted enough on this situa situation � tion Serious overcrowding began at the hospital last spring which Elliott and the hospital board of trustees feel makes more urgent the need of a proposed 135 bed expansion plan The plan which had been hoped would go to referendum in the Dec 6 regional election was stalled when approval from Health Minister Ralph Loffmark was not forth forthcoming � coming A projected addition costing 544 million was approved previously by the minister Elliott referred to grave concern at the overcrowding expressed by trustees at their meeting Thursday night Trustees considered re restricting � stricting visiting hours at the hospital and not permitting patients from outside the re region � gion but finally left the ques question �
