Jennifer Johns, owner of Land of Laughter Early Childhood Enrichment Program, will be among those attending the rally, which starts at 3:30 p.m. and she's encouraging parents to join her because they are the ones who will likely have to pay more in the end. Hit particularly hard will be the funding group child care providers receive for children under three years old. The rate will drop by $3.76 a day for children who stay more than four hours a day starting July 1. Based on five days a week, that adds up to $75 per month more that each parent will have to pay per child. Johns said she's not sure how she'll be able to keep her doors open once the reduced funding comes into effect. -- See CHILD on page 5 Inquest findings reviewed by FRANK PEEBLES Citizen staff The RCMP is analyzing the transcripts of the coroner's inquest into the shooting of Kevin St. Arnaud, as ordered by the Crown but the Crown says it stands by its original decision to not lay charges against RCMP Const. Ryan Sheremetta. "The major crime section from Prince George is having a look at the transcripts of the coroner's inquest and, after reviewing that, they will determine whether or not it requires any further information and also to determine if it should be submitted to Crown for review," said provincial Crown Counsel spokesman Stan Lowe. "We will await whether or not we are asked to review the decision. If an investigation report is submitted, we will be happy to review that new evidence." -- See CROWN on page 3 Auto theft hot spots revealed by FRANK PEEBLES Citizen staff A new ICBC map shows the hot spots where vehicles are being stolen from in the city. The RCMP are concerned law abiding citizens are fueling the dots on the map by making it too easy for thieves to steal cars. According to the map, most of the city has seen some vehicle thefts, but three spots are particularly prone: the area of First Avenue and Ospika Boulevard, the area of 15th Avenue and Nicholson Street, and 22nd Avenue and the Bypass. Other spots have also seen more than their share of auto crime, including most of the downtown, the crescents neighbourhood all the way to Highway 97, the VLA neighbourhood, and the Ferry Avenue/ Westwood Drive area. -- See DRIVERS on page 3 Density map showing auto thefts in Prince George Jan. 1, 2005 to Sept. 30, 2006 Citizen photo by David Mah IRON HORSE -- The chilly weather didn't keep UNBC geography student Theo Mylnowski from riding to classes Monday.
